Controlling The Weather and Mastering the Light in Photoshop
Starting date:

Instructor: Danilo Piccioni                                                                           Duration: 4 Weeks            Cost: USD195

It has been said that nobody can control the weather. We are happy to say this is NOT true anymore! You will be able to control the weather - at least in your photographs! In fact, after taking this terrific and innovative course you will be able to "season" your photography - meaning change the seasons at will. No kidding! Plus you will be able to turn any daytime scene into an evening one, add fog, change the color of light, and create a starry night sky. You will learn how to add spectacular lightning and rainbows to your photographs.

Discover how to make a once flat sky into a striking one, by filling the sky with clouds. Or, how to make one of those hazy-day pictures that we all keep in our drawer because they have dreary, flat, gray skies into a sunny, blue sky.

We will learn to create a moonlight scene in an ordinary picture and create a sunset from an image taken at noon, or turn on a neon sign without calling an electrician. You will learn how to create warm and cold light in your photographs. We will also look at how to turn a boring picture into an inviting image by adding some candlelight to achieve a warm look. We will teach you the different kinds of lights available in nature and how to successfully recreate them in Photoshop. But wherever there is light, there is shadow, and you will be in charge of creating shadows: we will teach you how easy it can be to add a shadow to the objects and people in your photos, and more. We will see how to cast shadows from a Venetian blind over faces, how to cast a shadow of a window frame, or the one from a leaf over the elements of your picture.

What about reflections? Of course! You will learn how to recreate a mirrored reflection in sunglasses or how to remove unwanted reflections in your pictures, like yourself on the metallic surface of a car. Adding a curved reflection on a drinking glass will never be a problem after taking this course.

This course is jammed packed with creative, easy-to-duplicate PhotoShop tutorials and tips on techniques. Every week you will be given assignments on the topic you have just learned. What are you waiting for? In only four weeks, you will be in control of the weather and the light in your photography. Sign up today!!

Due to the nature of this class, it will be exclusively taught by Danilo Piccioni.

Course Outline:

Lesson one: Understanding Light in order to recreate it
There would be no photography without light. This week you will learn how light works. We will discuss the different kind of lights available in nature, verses light that science and technology can offer us. You will unlock the mystery of the many lighting effects options in Photoshop filter section to create powerful and striking images.

Lesson two: The Weather
During this second week, you will learn the fantastic art of changing the weather in pictures. You will create fog, create moonlight, create a sunny day, create a sunset, create dramatic skies and learn how to draw lightning and rainbows. The weather will be what YOU want it to be in your photos!

Lesson three: Shadows
In lesson two you altered the weather, now you will learn to cast shadows over your subjects. From a glass window, a palm leaf or from Venetian blinds you will project these artificial shadows in your picture, making them believable and more compelling. In this lesson, you will also learn how to create reflections in the water, in sunglasses, and how to remove them, as well.

Lesson four: Special lighting effects
We want to save the very best for last. This week you will learn how to achieve a film-noir lighting style in your pictures, and the studio retro style as well. Creating steam and smoke. You will also learn how to turn traffic signals on and off.

Course Requirement:
A digital camera and Photoshop CS, CS2, CS3 or CS4. Students should have a working knowledge of aperture and shutter speed and be familiar with the basics of photoshop.
